The econocheck Shallow Batten system is designed to reduce sound transmission through a level concrete structural sub-floor.

Econocheck Shallow Batten consists of 10mm or 15mm ACF bonded to a FSC - certificated 35mm or 40mm deep softwood batten.

When installed as part of a complete sound reduction system, it enables a timber floor to meet the sound transmission regulations of Approved Document E 2003 and subsequent amendments in 2004, 2010 and 2013.

Should the requirement be for a batten height other than that specified on this page please contact us for further technical advice and suitability. Alternatively you could consider the Deep Batten 75RD (see link left).

Applications

To be used over concrete floors for conversions, refurbishments or new build (to hide services or accommodate underfloor heating beneath the floor) with a new ceiling as illustrated.

Performance (on the two New Build Robust Detail constructions illustrated)

Treated floor meets with the New Build Robust Detail descriptive FFT3, typically within Robust Details EFC-1, 
EFC-2, EFC-7 and EFS-1. Two typical alternative constructions are shown right.

The acoustic floor shall be:

Econocheck Shallow Batten system, manufactured by Isomass Ltd. Unit 11, Avenue Business Park, Off Brockley Road, Elsworth, Cambridgeshire, CB23 4EY and installed in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions / recommendations.

Installation

Lay econocheck Shallow Batten resilient layer side down, at 400mm max. centres for 18mm chipboard flooring or 500mm max. centres for 22mm chipboard flooring.

Apply Isocheck Acoustic Angled Flanking Band on the edges of the chipboard just before they are pushed against the perimeter walls to isolate the board from the wall.

Apply Isocheck adhesive to all tongued and grooved panel joints.

Install skirting and trim off excess Flanking Band.

Full installation instructions for econocheck Shallow Batten are available upon request. These must be used in conjunction with this booklet when laying the econocheck Shallow Batten floating floor system.
