Lifestiles
In 2004 Lifestiles was established by co-directors Mike Chillery and David Osborn, with a mission to provide a second to none service to clients supplying aesthetically pleasing quality natural roofing products.
Success was achieved relatively quickly with the Lifestiles quality Hand Made Clay Plain Tile produced in colours and pre-mixed blends to suit most projects and geographical areas. The Ashvale Hand Crafted range of clay plain tiles was quickly added to the product offering followed by the Ashvale pantiles, Natural Slate, Natural Cotswold Stone and more recently Machine Made Clay Tiles in large and small formats. However, we will not stop there and we are currently developing the Baythorne Blend of bricks amongst other products.
Quality is always paramount in our minds when we are sourcing new products. Consequently, they are tested at Lucideon (an independent UK facility approved by both UKAS and the British Standards Institute) to ensure they meet the relevant British Standards. To back this up and give the customer further peace of mind we offer a 30 year product guarantee (see the technical section of this website).
With over 50 years of experience our staff are specialists in natural roofing solutions and have been involved with many prestigious projects over the years including projects for Oxford and Cambridge Universities, English Heritage, Royal Residencies, Private Housing for Celebrities, Listed Buildings, etc. However, much of our work involves helping with one off housing projects from large Self Builds to small extensions so please contact us with your enquiry however large or small.
Subtle autumnal shades with varying cambers in length and width result in a textured roofscape with a weathered appearance and matt un-sanded finish.
The Foxearth is a mellow brown colour with varying cambers in length and width to add texture to the roof. The effect is of an old peg tile which has weathered on the South facing roof slopes of an old building.
A dark tile which instantly looks old and weathered with varying cambers in length and width. Perfect for repairs to old buildings or creating an established looking new build.
Natural orange with a matt un-sanded finish with varying cambers in length and width commonly used for tile cladding, but equally at home on a roof.
A beautiful hand-crafted tile that is a premixed product with a subtle variation of colours from orange through to red, brown and up to the dark tile.
Initially designed specifically for this county, the Berkshire is now widely used through the South East often as a reclaimed tile substitute.
As well as the Multi we can supply any combination of the above colours to suit your requirements, giving you the opportunity to create your own individual and unique roof.
If you are looking for a roof finish that is more matured than some of the red-based colours but not too dark, then the Brown is the tile for you.
The Heather gives the finished roof-scape a deep blend of dark reds with a hint of burgundy. The beautiful heather colour is widely seen throughout the UK and seems to compliment the various stone and bricks used here fantastically.
The Multi is based on the reds, heathers and a few dark and orange tiles, but the key to our flagship colour blend is the natural variations caused by traditional firing methods ensuring no two tiles are the same colour or shape and the shades merge into each other, thus avoiding that contrived look, often seen when single colour tiles are mixed on site.
A rich orange colour likened to Sussex Wealden clay, the Orange tiles are more commonly used as hanging tiles or to mix in with our other hand made colours to suit specific project requirements.
Although the Red is essentially one colour it has subtle shade variations caused by the traditional firing methods. Ideal for vertical tiling or equally pitched roofing if you prefer to let the elements weather your roof naturally.
A blend of blacks and browns combined with the irregularity of shape give the Restoration the appearance of an already weathered subtly textured roof.
A similar principle to the Berkshire, the Wiltshire has a red base colour with random black "soot" stains which gives an attractive weathered look to the roof without looking contrived.
